Allergy – 21st century disease of civilization
Today, one in three Europeans presents with one of the typical symptoms of allergy – at upward tendency. As a consequence, many patients suffer from one of the common symptoms of allergy, such as hay fever, dermatitis or shortness of breath, many of them throughout the year.

Usually, the diagnosis of allergy is quickly at hand whereas it frequently proves difficult to pinpoint the exact disease elicitor in a single step. The presence of many possible sources that contribute to the development of the disease typically demands multiple physical examinations, numerous diagnostic procedures and often a lot more than one visit at the doctor’s practice.

Unpleasant skin tests may sometimes have to be repeated several times over the course of a several months, hopefully facilitating the identification of the disease elicitors. Frequently, however, this cumbersome procedure leaves doctors and patients puzzled as no decisive results as to what is causing a patient’s symptoms can be produced!

Luckily, modern technology has permitted the development of an innovative test system that allows for the diagnosis of presently already  89 allergens in a single step. A single drop of blood is sufficient to create a comprehensive picture of a patient’s possible allergies while at the same time avoiding the need to irritate the skin with a cocktail of allergens.

ISAC - Immuno Solid-phase Allergen Chip

For the first time in the century-old history of allergy research, this outstanding improvement in the diagnosis of allergic diseases is facilitated by ISAC (Immuno Solid-phase Allergen Chip), a medical device based on modern biochip technology developed by leading scientists from academia and industry.

Please, explore the following pages for more information about the technology underlying ISAC and the unique diagnostic concept it is based upon...
